I have taught at St Benedict’s Catholic Primary School since qualifying in 1993. I have taught in each class from Reception to Year 4. I have also covered various lessons in Nursery, Year 5 and 6. I have also been lucky enough in recent years to accompany both Year 5 and 6 on residential trips.

Currently I teach Year 2. I love this age group, although I do find I love whatever age group I am teaching at the time!

Mrs Veronica Hesketh

My other responsibilities within school are:

  • Science
  • Phonics
  • School Council
  • Healthy Schools
  • Key Stage 1 Behaviour
  • Student and NQT mentorship

I do my best to keep well informed about all developments in education and regularly attend relevant training both to enhance my teaching and also my performance as a staff governor. I recently successfully completed a National Professional Qualification in Middle Leadership which has improved my subject leadership.

I remember being advised when I qualified as a teacher to try to move on to a different school after 4 years to enhance my career prospects. Well, what can I say, 24 years later I am still at the school I love St Benedict’s Catholic Primary School.
