Prayers and Thoughts for the Week ahead

Summer Holidays

Thought for the Summer Holiday

Pope Francis reminds us that true rest "is a moment of contemplation of praise. It is a time to look at reality and say : how beautiful life is. It is the time to say to God: thank you for your life, for your mercy, for all your gifts.  To recall them , bless them and make peace with life because life is precious. Peace is chosen , it cannot be imposed and cannot be found by chance.

Prayer for Summer and Travel

Loving and merciful God, you guide and protect us. Keep everyone connected with St Benedict's safe and well until our return; keep us safe from all injury, accident or malice. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.  Amen

Week Commencing - 19th July

Thought for the week (Forgiveness)

"The Lord never tires of forgiving. It is we who tire of asking for forgiveness." Pope Francis

Prayer - Forgiveness

God of Mercy and Forgiveness, help me to forgive myself and turn over a new chapter of my life. God, shape me in Your image and make me a vessel for Your good work. Build me a new life. I want to walk next to You all the days of my life.

Week Commencing - 12th July

Thought for the week (Water)

“Nothing is softer or more flexible than water, yet nothing can resist it.”  Lao Tzu - an ancient Chinese philosopher

Prayer – About Water

Come, all who are thirsty, says Jesus, our Lord.  Come, all who are weak; taste the living water that I shall give.  Dip your hands in the stream, refresh body and soul, drink from it, and depend on it, for this water will never run dry.  Come, all who are thirsty, says Jesus, our Lord.  Amen

Week Commencing - 5th July

Thought for the week (St Benedict)

“The first degree of humility is prompt obedience.” St Benedict

Prayer – St Benedict

Dear Saint Benedict, I thank God for showering you with His grace to love Him above all else and to establish a monastic rule that has helped so many of His children live full and holy lives. Amen

Week Commencing - 28th June

Thought for the week (Jesus)

Whenever we take a step towards Jesus, we come to realise that He is already there, waiting for us with open arms. Pope Francis

Prayer – About Jesus        Jesus. He wakes me up; He makes me sleep. Provides for me the food I eat. When I cry, I call on him, because I know with Him, I win. Even through the hardest day, I trust in him in every way. He's the One who sees me through, Jesus lives, I know it's true. With loving kindness, he smiles on me. Because he died, I am free. Lord, for all, I thank you so, I know you'll never let me go! Amen

Week Commencing - 28th June

Thought for the week (Beauty)

Christ has made my soul beautiful with the jewels of grace and virtue. I belong to Him. Whom the Angels serve.  St. Agnes

Prayer – About Beauty   Lord, help us to recognise what is eternal and what is temporary. Our bodies and faces will be altered by circumstance and time, but with our eyes fixed on you, a deeper beauty can shine through. We pray that you would help us see where you find beauty and teach our children to do the same.   Amen

Week Commencing - 14th June

Our Collective Worship Theme for this week is Values

Thought for the week – Whit holiday

“Together with a culture of work, there must be a culture of leisure as gratification. To put it another way: people who work must take the time to relax, to be with their families, to enjoy themselves, read, listen to music, play a sport.”                          Pope Francis

Prayer – Values God help us to weave a tapestry of love and not hate in our children, a spirit of tolerance and caring, and a dedication to freedom for all and not just some. God help us to sow seeds of peace and justice in our children's hearts today. Amen
