Prayers and Thoughts for the Week ahead

Week Commencing - 1st November

Our Collective Worship theme for this week is Saints

Thought for the Week Ahead Life is a journey. When we stop, things don't go right. Pope Francis

Prayer for the Week Ahead (linked to this week’s Collective Worship Theme of Saints) – Prayer of Saint Benedict.  We pray, Lord, that everything we do may be prompted by your inspiration, so that every prayer and work of ours may begin from you and be brought by you to completion. Amen

Week Commencing - 18th October

Thought for the Week Ahead If you judge people, you have no time to love them. Mother Teresa

Prayer for the Week Ahead (linked to this week’s Collective Worship Theme of Courage) – Dear Father, I ask You to give me strength to pursue that which is just and right in life and not what is easy or popular. Help me to do the right thing without expecting any kind of gratitude or reward. Amen

Week Commencing - 11th October

Thought for the Week Ahead  Having faith does not mean having no difficulties, but having the strength to face them, knowing we are not alone. Pope Francis

Prayer for the Week Ahead (linked to Collective Worship Theme of Light) – Our School’s Mission Statement is ‘In the light of Jesus, we learn to shine’.  Dear Jesus, help us to accept and use your light to guide us in your ways. Amen

Week Commencing - 4th October

Thought for the Week Ahead - It is not enough to say we are Christians. We must live the faith, not only with our words, but with our actions.  Pope Francis

Prayer for the Week Ahead - So many shades of gold. Autumn. Another miracle we take for granted. Another expression of the artist's vision. The blending of the autumn hues with the setting sun. Warm. Comforting. Perfect. Thank you for autumn, Lord.  Amen

Week Commencing - 27th September

Our Collective Worship theme for this week is Water

Thought for the Week Ahead - When Jesus stepped into the waters of the Jordan and was baptized by John the Baptist, he did so not because he was in need of repentance, or conversion: he did it to be among people who need forgiveness, among us sinners, and to take upon himself the burden of our sins. – Pope Francis

Prayer for the Week Ahead - God of rain and river, of stream and storm, of sea and silent pools, of waterfall and waterhole, of wells and waves. Hear us as we pray for water fresh and pure for all. And guide us to use your water wisely and well, ensuring that all your creation can share in your bounty. Amen

Week Commencing - 20th September

Our Collective Worship theme for this week is Rules

Thought for the Week Ahead - I prefer a church which is bruised, hurting and dirty because it has been out on the streets, rather than a church which is unhealthy from being confined and from clinging to its own security. – Pope Francis

Prayer for the Week Ahead - We stand together.  We pray for all who are suffering and bereaved. At this time of sorrow, incomprehension and tragedy, we stand together.  In this crisis, we pray for God’s mercy and healing for the sick and for health and strength for all who care for them. Amen

Prayer: Adapted from a message from Sister Bridget Tighe of Caritas Jerusalem

Week Commencing - 13th September

Our Collective Worship theme for this week is Friendship

Thought for the Week Ahead - It is decisive even for all of us today to rediscover the beauty of being children

of God, to be brothers and sisters among ourselves, because we have been united in Christ, who redeemed

us. – Pope Francis - 8th September 2021

Prayer for the Week Ahead - Father, Thank you for being beside me. Thank you for this new school. Please be

there to hold my hand.  Please help me to relax and enjoy the day. Amen
