Prayers and Thoughts for the Week ahead

Week Commencing - 10th May 2021

Our Collective Worship Themes for this week is linked to Ascension Thursday and Truth, Loving and Peace.

Thought for the week

"I distrust a charity that costs nothing and does not hurt" because real poverty hurts.  Pope Francis

Prayer for a better world

Generous God, we thank you: For the gifts you have given us, the abundance of your Creation, and the beauty that surrounds us. For the people whose lives have touched ours, for the love they show, the burdens they lift, the hopes we share. Compassionate God, we ask you: to fill us with your love, to place in our hearts a spirit of courage, to move us to reach out to others in need. And lead us to play our part, so that now and in generations to come all your children may share in our hope for a better world. We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Week Commencing - 3rd May 2021

Our Collective Worship Theme for this week is Truth

Thought for the week - "Mary, give me your Heart: so beautiful, so pure, so immaculate; your Heart so full of love and humility that I may be able to receive Jesus in the Bread of Life and love Him as you love Him and serve Him in the distressing guise of the poor."   Mother Teresa

Prayer for the month of May

Holy Mary, mother fair,
Filled with love for God,
Pray for us in all our needs.
Pray for us today.   Amen

Week Commencing - 26th April 2021

Our Collective Worship Theme for this week is Loving

Thought for the week - Faith in the resurrection of Jesus says that there is a future for every human being; the cry for unending life which is a part of the person is indeed answered. God exists: that is the real message of Easter. Anyone who even begins to grasp what this means also knows what it means to be redeemed. Pope Benedict XVI

Prayer for the morning

O Jesus, through the most pure heart of Mary, I offer you all my prayers , works and sufferings of this day, for the intentions of your Sacred Heart and the intentions of our most holy father, Pope Francis.  Amen

Week Commencing - 19th April 2021

Our Collective Worship Theme for this week is Peace

Thought for the week - Although the life of a person is in a land full of thorns and weeds, there is always a space in which the good seed can grow. You have to trust God.       Pope Francis

Prayer for those who mourn
Bless those who mourn, eternal God, with the comfort of your love that they may face each new day with hope and the certainty that nothing can destroy the good that has been given. May their memories become joyful,
their days enriched with friendship, and their lives encircled by your love. Amen.  Vienna Cobb Anderson, from Prayers of Our Hearts (1991, Crossroad Publishing Co)
