Equality Duty
This statement reflects the school's policy on Equality which can found by following the link below. It can also be found by navigating to the drop down menus > Key Information > Policies. The policy is called Policy 27 - Equality Information and Objective Statement.
St Benedict’s Catholic Primary School recognises that certain groups in society have historically been disadvantaged because of unlawful discrimination they have faced due to their race, sex, disability, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, marriage/civil partnership, religion/belief or age. The policy will put in place a range of actions to eliminate prejudice, unlawful discrimination
and victimisation within the school community and workforce.
The school fully understands the principles of the Act and the work needed to ensure that those with protected characteristics are not discriminated against and are given equal opportunities. Protected characteristics, under the Act, are as follows:
- Age
- Disability
- Gender reassignment
- Maternity and pregnancy
- Race
- Religion or belief
- Sex
- Sexual orientation
The policy goes into far more detail but the statement above details the school's commitment to meeting the requirements of the Equality Act 2010. This statement is reviewed annually whereas the policy is reviewed every 4 years as required by government.
